GM India to unveil its small car `Beat' at Delhi Auto Expo

General Motors India, the Indian arm of US auto major General Motor Corp, will display its small car, the hatchback Chevrolet Beat among six production and concept vehicles at the Auto Expo in January, the company said.

The Beat, which was earlier slated for launch by end-2009, would now be launched in January 2010. Other models on display will include the hybrid version of Chevrolet Volt and sports car Chevrolet Camaro, WTCC Cruze, Captiva Extreme, Spark Electric and Aveo CNG.

The Chevrolet Volt is an electric vehicle with extended-range capability. It is designed to drive up to 65 km (40 miles) on electricity without using gasoline or producing tail-pipe emissions.

The Chevrolet Camaro is a fuel-efficient sports car, which has recently been launched globally.

The biannual Auto Expo will be held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi between 5 January and 11 January 2010. 

"The Auto Expo in Delhi is the most ideal platform in India to highlight our new product range that will showcase GM's technological advancement and innovation. The theme of our stall entitled 'Inspiration to advance' will have Chevrolet brand of vehicles displayed under three categories like `Performance' series, `Mini' series and the `Green' series," said P Balendran, vice-president, General Motors India.

The new additions to the company's product portfolio - Chevrolet Beat will further consolidate GM's position in the small car segment, Balendran added.

General Motors India recently launched the Chevrolet Aveo Special Edition, pushing the popular entry sedan to an entirely new level.
