Global business process outsourcing (BPO) services firm Genpact plans to hire about 10,000 professionals in India in 2016. This includes about 3,000 in its Hyderbad centre.

"It will be in excess of 10,000 in India next year, of which 3,000 will be in Hyderabad alone. In the past few years, the hiring has been more or less in the same range," its vice-president and head (financial services analytics) Amit Bhaskar said on the sidelines of an event in Hyderabad.

"In Hyderabad, we will recruit in the areas of finance accounting, transaction processing and technology, among others," he added.

Genpact also has plans to set up a new center focusing on analytics, Bhaskar said, adding that the demand for analytics professionals was increasing.

Genpact currently employs around 70,000 people globally and a bulk of them are in India. Overall, it plans to add 12,000 people, including 10,000 in India. A major per cent of workforce is employed in the banking and financial services (BFS) vertical, he said.

Genpact on Monday also signed a memorandum of understanding with ICFAI Business School (IBS) to jointly develop and deliver an analytics and research programme for IBS' students. The programme is designed to expose students to commercial credit risk management and financial services analytics. Genpact's subject matter experts and training partners would be involved in the programme.

Genpact, Bhasker said, was in talks for similar partnerships with two universities in Europe and one in Australia as well.

Upon successful completion of the programme, students would be eligible for employment in analytics practice at Genpact. However, they would to undergo regular selection process of the company, he said.

Genpact is the largest third-party analytics service provider in the world and have around 6,000 people working in the analytics team worldwide.

"Annually, we take over 1400-1500 in the analytics segment. In India, we have analytics centre in Gurgaon, Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad and we are thinking of adding fifth one," he said.
