Grasim Q1-FY'12 net vaults 40 per cent to Rs314 crore

Grasim Industries has reported a 40-per cent increase in its fiscal first quarter net profit, at Rs314 crore, against Rs224 crore in the similar quarter of the previous year.

Total stand-alone income of the company increased to Rs1,124.4 crore during the quarter ended 30 June 2011 from Rs1,004.3 crore in the quarter ended 30 June 2010.

Consolidated net profit of the group rose 30.8 per cent to Rs752 crore during the quarter ended 30 June 2011 against Rs575 crore during the quarter ended 30 June 2010.

Consolidated group income increased to Rs6,045.1 crore during the quarter ended 30 June 2011 from Rs5,215 crore during the similar quarter of the previous year, unaudited results showed.  

Grasim's consolidated income include revenues from its textiles, viscose staple fibre (VSF), chemicals and cement businesses.

"The company has recorded higher revenue and net profit led by better performance of VSF and cement," Grasim said in a release.
