Flipkart’s chief product officer Punit Soni quits

Flipkart on Wednesday said its chief product officer Punit Soni has quit. Confirming the development in an email reply to PTI, the ecommerce firm said, "This is his last week."
Soni is a former Motorola vice president and had also worked with Google as product management executive.
Announcing his appointment in March last year, Flipkart had said he will lead the product definition and innovation charter for Flipkart consumer products, marketplace and transaction platform.
During his tenure with Flipkart, Soni was responsible for all product initiatives across the ecommerce website from handling product management, design, product marketing, and programme management to sales events, among others, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Soni's move comes three months after Binny Bansal was made chief executive and Sachin Bansal executive chairman in a major reshuffle of the top deck of the company. After the rejig, Mukesh Bansal, who had joined the company along with Myntra's acquisition, resigned.
According to a report in The Economic Times, Niket Desai, another former Google executive, also has quit the company along with Soni.
The report said that Soni was instrumental in developing Ping, a chat application for Flipkart app, and also website Flipkart Lite.
According to a report in Your Story, the company has seen four exits from the top level in the first four months of 2016.
The report also said citing sources that Soni left the company as he was finding it difficult to adjust to the style of functioning at the company.
"Punit was feeling constrained by the many entrenched seniors and stakeholders," the report has said.
As the company continues to restructure itself, there are likely to be more such exits and reshuffles, said the report.
