Fiat India gears up to resume production at Kurla plant

Delhi: Fiat India Private Ltd will resume production at its plant at Kurla in Mumbai from January 2006. The plant, which is partially operational will restart manufacturing of Fiat Palio, Petra and Adventure by January 2006.

The plant had suffered sever damages due to heavy flooding in Mumbai this year.. Giovanni de Filippis, newly appointed managing director of Fiat India Private Ltd, said, "We have managed to clean the plant thoroughly and are gearing up for production in January 2006. In the interim, the Fiat depots located outside Mumbai across various regions in India will handle the demand of cars that have been booked."

Fiat, has also announced its renewed brand strategy for the Indian market focused at the premium end of the growing automobile sector. Fiat Adventure Sport - is the latest offering from the Italian car giant targeted at the new generation of customers who enthusiastically seek-out the latest trends in style, safety, engine and performance.
