Mumbai: Despite the Maharashtra State Electricity Board''s (MSEB) continuous refusal to make payments to the Dabhol Power Company (DPC), the independent power producer has slapped two more bills for the month of August and September on the MSEB. The total amount of these two bill is Rs 209.21 crore.

The DPC spokesperson said: "We have sent the August and September bills to the MSEB. These bills represent capacity payments that accure every month. DPC has slapped bills for Rs 104.97 crore for August and Rs 104.24 crore for September.

According to a communication to the MSEB, DPC has said it would continue to dispatch the monthly bills as it considered the controversial power purchase agreement still operational.

However, senior MSEB officials said the MSEB has once again asked DPC to refrain from sending bills till legal matters between the two estranged partners are settled.

The officials said there is no question of the board making payment for the power not bought by the board. Also DPC is yet to respond to MSEB''s Rs 1,200-crore rebate claim for its alleged misrepresentation of capacity.

On 10 September, DPC had slapped two pre-termination notices on the MSEB for non-payment of dues for April (Rs 136 crore), May (Rs 140 crore) and June (Rs 102 crore) and had also invoked the Centre''s counter-guarantee for the same.
