The Oberoi Group announces the re-opening of The Oberoi, Mumbai

The Oberoi, Mumbai will re-open on 24th April 2010 following extensive restoration and renovation.

Following the devastating terrorist strikes in Mumbai on 26 November 2008, which left huge portions of the property on several floors unsuitable for use, the Oberoi Group's luxury hotel on Marine Drive in South Mumbai has been completely transformed with fresh contemporary interiors, new facilities and the latest technology.

"This will be complemented by personalised and gracious service guests have come to expect from Oberoi Hotels & Resorts," East India Hotels, the operator of the luxury chain, said in a statement.

All guest rooms and suites have been renovated, and include spacious marble bathrooms, it said.

Reopening the property as a "new hotel" rather than focusing on hust renovating it, the hotel has opened new dining options include Ziya, an Indian restaurant, under the direction of the Michelin-starred chef Vineet Bhatia; Fenix a new all day dining restaurant; a new bar and a completely redesigned lounge.

Vetro, the Italian restaurant opened in association with Hotel Hassler, Rome, will serve traditional and modern Italian cuisine with a strong creative element.
