DHL launches ''mango express''

DHL has launched mango express'' to enable its customers in India to airfreight the season''s Alphonso mangoes abroad. The one-stop service, takes care of everything from selecting the best mangoes, to packing them, shipping them and managing all relevant documentation.

Announcing the launch of the mango express, Chris Callen, country manager, DHL India, said, "It is the season of the king of fruits - mangoes. Families can now express how much they care for their loved ones overseas simply by sending a box of luscious ripe-in-time mangoes through a unique one-stop-shop, hassle free service — DHL mango express."

These shipments are available in two packs sizes of one dozen and two dozen, weighing between 4kg-5kg and 8kg-9kg respectively. Payments can be made through credit cards, demand draft or cheque. Along with the mangoes, a personalised message or letter can also be sent.

To ensure that its customers get the best mangoes, DHL has tied up with two of India''s largest mango exporters, Balasaheb Dhoble & Sons and Prakash & Sons to offer the highest quality "A" grade Alphonso mangoes. These can be shipped through DHL mango express to all major countries that allow imports of , which include the UK, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the UAE, Bahrain, Mauritius, Greece, Hungary, Czech Republic, Turkey, Lebanon and Nepal.

The DHL ''mango express'' packaging conforms to international quality control standards. Each mango is hand checked for blemishes before being packed. The outer ply pack has special ventilators to enable natural ripening of the fruit, while inside the box, the mangoes are packed with breathable foam nets or rice-papers gloves.. DHL Mango Express entails a one time all-inclusive flat fee. Each pack bears the DHL seal, which enables the shipments priority clearance.

It is estimated that India exports mangoes worth Rs85 crore.
