Mercedes-Benz extends after-sales service for commercial vehicles to east India

Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles has expanded its footprint to cover eastern India as its heavy duty truck the Actros 4840K will be operational in the mines of Dhanbad and Asansol by early 2008.
Dr Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director and CEO, DaimlerChrysler India, inaugurated a service centre operated by its authorized agent Rajni Motors to offer service, spare parts and after sales support at the mining sites.
"Launched in June 2006 the Mercedes-Benz Actros has been very well received by our customers," Dr Aulbur said. "Till date we have sold about 200 trucks to customers who need reliable, robust and cost efficient solutions for their demanding mining operations. We are looking forward to further growth in 2008. The Eastern region has tremendous potential- and we are delighted to partner with Rajni Motors in extending world class service for our demanding customers."
Mercedes-Benz made its debut in the commercial vehicles market with the completely built imported Actros (June 2006). Since November 2007, the company started local assembly of the Actros at its manufacturing facility in Pune. This is aimed towards reducing the delivery timelines and establish closer traction with the local market. Moving forward Mercedes-Benz is keen to explore other segments and niche applications for the Actros such as construction and long haulage.
