Dr Reddy's first quarter 2009-10 net doubles to Rs239 crore

Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd today reported a two-fold jump in its consolidated net profit for first quarter 2009-10 (April-June), under the international financial reporting standards (IFRS).

Dr Reddy's said its consolidated net profit jumped over two-fold to Rs238.89 crore in the quarter ended 30 June 2009, compared with Rs91.97 crore in the same period last year.

In a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange, Dr Reddy's said its total income stood at Rs1,839.3 crore in the quarter, against Rs1,547.6 crore in the same period last fiscal.

Standalone net profit of the company rose 8.3 per cent to Rs227.44 crore in the latest quarter from Rs210 crore in the same quarter last fiscal.

Overall revenues rose to Rs1,820 crore ($381 million) in Q1 FY10 from Rs1,500 crore ($315 million) in Q1 FY09, representing a growth of 21 per cent.

The growth was largely driven by sumatriptan and by the key markets of North America and India, the company said in a release.
