Compaq Computer Corp. has introduced a new range of Intel based PC servers aimed at the high-end business computer market.

These servers are high-end, robust machines capable of handling high traffic on web-sites and online transactions with the requisite reliability and security. This market has been the domain of Sun Microsystems, especially those running on Unix operating system.

Compaq promises to offer equal performance at a third of the price compared to Unix based Sun systems. Typically Unix based machines have been preferred over Win NT machines for the high-end web based applications and servers.
