CommScope to acquire Argus Technologies

US-based telecommunication company CommScope says it will acquire Argus Technologies, a producer of antenna systems for wireless applications, for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 1994 by Dr Bevan Jones, John Bonello and Danny Schwotzer, Sydney-based Argus provides a wide range of high performance, high technology antennae for base stations, stadiums and venues, and other wireless applications.

It designs and develops electrically steerable antennas for cellular base stations, phased array antennas for ground-based military navigation aids, planar array antennae for primary and secondary radar systems and phased array antennae for precision landing system

It has offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, the UK and the USA.

The Argus acquisition will enable CommScope to broaden its antennae solutions portfolio, deepen its research and development capabilities, strengthen its global market presence and accelerate its growth in the wireless market.

North Carolina-based CommScope provides infrastructure solutions for communication networks worldwide. The company operates in four segments: antenna, cable and cabinet group (ACCG); enterprise; broadband; and wireless network solutions.
