Carlson Hotels Worldwide to set up new Radisson Hotel in Zirakpur in Punjab

Carlson Hotels WorldwideSingapore-based Carlson Hotels Worldwide-Asia Pacific, the regional headquarters of the Minneapolis-based Carlson Hotels Worldwide, has signed an agreement with ECC Infrastructure Pte Ltd to open a new Radisson Hotel at Zirakpur in the Chandigarh district of Punjab by March 2009. 

Carlson is a global provider in the travel, cruise, hotels, restaurant and marketing industries and already manages the largest international portfolio of any hotel group.

The company currently manages 26 hotels in India, under the Radisson, Park Plaza, Country Inns & Suites By Carlson, and Park Inn brands, with another 31 hotels under development.

''We have been targeting prominent economic and commercial centres of the country to ensure consistent expansion of our portfolio in India,: said Martin Rinck, president and managing director, Carlson Hotels Worldwide-Asia Pacific. ''Zirakpur is poised to become a popular business destination with the government announcing its intention to set up an international airport at Mohali, which is virtually part of Chandigarh,'' he said.
      
Zirakpur is also conveniently located on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway, just 3.5 kilometres from the Chandigarh airport. Martin noted that the property's strategic location will serve the growing meeting and business segment of the market.

Hardeep Singh, managing director of ECC Infrastructure Pte Ltd, said, ''Zirakpur and Chandigarh are seeing a growing number of business travellers from India as well as abroad. They will instantly recognize the Radisson brand and certainly expect world-class service and hospitality here.''

Carlson says guests in the 125-room hotel will also enjoy a fully equipped business centre, 24-hour wireless internet access and a banquet hall measuring 280 square metres with high-tech conferencing facilities and the latest audio-visual equipment along with business support services. There will also be a health club, spa and swimming pool, in addition to a bar, lounge and all-day dining.
