Bangalore: Ravi Mannath, the company secretary of Britannia Industries, has resigned. He is said to have left the company for "better prospects."

Company officials say his departure from the company is in no way linked to the recent firing of the company''s managing director Sunil Alagh, on grounds of financial misappropriation.

Mannath''s resignation was accepted by the board of directors of the company at its meeting held on 17 October.

The company has, in turn, appointed J Rajagopalan as the acting company secretary with immediate effect. He has also been made Britannia''s compliance officer.
