A dispute between BHP Billiton and miners at its Bowen Basin coal mines in Australia, is likely to continue until the end of the month with unions planning plan further industrial action.

BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) and miners and have been in talks over a new enterprise agreement for more than 16 months, with ongoing strikes and rolling stoppages since February.

According to Construction Forestry Mining Energy Union (CFMEU) district president Stephen Smyth there would be more strikes this week.

He said from this Thursday night until Saturday's day shift  there would be industrial action at all seven mines.

He added that would be a direct strike, but there would be other rolling stoppages at other various times.

Smyth has accused BMA of failure to act on several terms of the new agreement.
