Bharti Telenet grows in Chennai

Chennai: Bharti Telenet, Tamil Nadu''s first private fixed line service provider, has expanded its operations in Chennai.

The company offers its telephone connection in Meenambakkam, West Mambalam, Ashok Nagar, K K Nagar, Nanganalur, Madipakkam, and Ambattur.

The company commissioned its 76th switching unit in Meenambakkam to extend the coverage up to Tambaram. Each switching unit covers a radius of 2 kms.

At present, Bharti has a copper cable network of 935 kms and optic-fibre network stretching over 710 kms in the Tamil Nadu circle.

In Tamil Nadu Bharti Telenet has a subscriber base of 80,000 and expects to touch the 1 lakh mark by this yearend.
