BASF sales and profits up

Mumbai: BASF India Ltd has reported net sales of Rs.157.09 crore for the quarter ended 31st December 2003 against previous year''s corresponding quarter sales of Rs.116.22 crore — an increase of 35 per cent.

This increase is mainly due to good performance of the agricultural products, nutrition, plastics and fibers business particularly during the quarter ended 31st December 2003. The profit before tax rose by 56 percent.

The company''s profit after tax of Rs.7.8 crore is higher by 43 per cent compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

BASF India Limited manufactures and markets Styropor®, tanning agents, leather chemicals and auxiliaries, crop protection chemicals, textile chemicals, dispersions and speciality chemicals.
