Blue Star to set up new refrigeration products plant in Ahmedabad
23 December 2011
Airconditioning and commercial refrigeration major Blue Star is in the process of setting up a factory at Changodar, in Ahmedabad, to manufacture refrigeration products such as deep freezers, bottle coolers, milk coolers and water coolers.
Spread over 15,000 sq m, the new plant will cater to Blue Star's increasing business in ice cream-led the frozen food and dairy segments of the commercial refrigeration business, the company said in a release.
With rising demand in the frozen foods, Blue Star said, the company thought it prudent to expand its manufacturing capacity for refrigeration products.
Blue Star currently manufactures refrigeration products in its plant at Bharuch in Gujarat, which was set up about three decades ago, and this new plant at Ahmedabad will augment the current production capacity of these products significantly, the company said in a release.
"We anticipate the refrigeration products business to be a significant growth-driver of the company in the years to come and it was necessary to enhance the production capacity of these products. This plant is currently awaiting statutory approvals and we hope to begin manufacturing towards the end of this financial year.
The company will be making an investment of about Rs15 crore in this plant in the current financial year," said Satish Jamdar, managing director, Blue Star Limited.
