Bharti Airtel, India's largest telecommunications services provider by subscribers and revenue, has launched 2G and 3G mobile services across Lumla, Nafra and Longding in Arunachal Pradesh. The launch of the services across these remote towns was under the company's network transformation programme, 'Project Leap'.

This is also the first time that customers in these towns will have access to 3G mobile services.

''We are committed to building telecom infrastructure across Arunachal Pradesh and take our services deeper into the state. The launch of services in Lumla, Nafra and Longding underlines our commitment to the region. Our teams have overcome difficult terrain and several operational challenges to ensure that our network serves customers even in these far flung locations,'' said Sameer Anjaria, CEO at Airtel North East and Assam said.

Airtel is the largest mobile services provider in Arunachal Pradesh and offers 2G, 3G and 4G services. Airtel was also the first operator to launch 3G in the state and is the only operator that offers 4G in Arunachal Pradesh.

Earlier in November 2015, Airtel launched its Rs60,000 crore network transformation and expansion programme 'Project Leap' aimed at perceptibly improving network quality and delivering the best customer experience.

Airtel has connected important towns like Bomdilla, Naharlagun, Daporijo, Itanagar, Tawang and Zero with superfast 4G.

Airtel is also the largest mobile operator in North East and Assam. Airtel's mobile network currently covers close to half of the total population of Arunachal Pradesh.
