Bike leader Bajaj Auto sees 8.46% drop in August sales

Bajaj Auto, India's largest-selling motorcycle maker, today reported an 8.46-per cent decline in sales for August, with sales of 2,78,583 units against 3,04,352 units in the same month of 2012.

Bajaj Auto said in a statement that exports were up by 10 per cent during the month at 1,44,160 units compared to 1,31,562 units in August 2012.

In the commercial vehicles category, the company said its sales stood at 33,605 units against 40,554 units in the same month last year - a decline of 17 per cent.

Total vehicle sales of the company in August stood at 3,12,188 units compared to 3,44,906 units in the same period a year ago, down 9 per cent, the statement said.
