Ashok Leyland July sales up 11 per cent

Chennai: Ashok Leyland Ltd has sold 3,839 vehicles in July, an 11 per cent increase over 3,449 vehicles sold by it in July 2003.

Total MDV (medium duty vehicles) domestic sales were down at 3,182 units (3,218). This was mainly because MDV passenger sales were down from 857 units in July 2003 to 734 units in July 2004, while MDV goods sales increased from 2,361 units to 2,448.

Exports increased by more than three times from 192 units to 633 units. Cumulative sales for April-July 2004 were up 27 per cent, to 14,975 units from 11,796 units, according to information provided by the company.
