Record Sales by Ashok Leyland - Annual volume Up 33.5 per cent to 48,648

Hinduja Group flagship Ashok Leyland has reported all-time high sales of 48,648 vehicles for the year 2003-04. This is 33.5 per cent more than last year's 36,445 vehicles.

During the year, at 44,490 vehicles, total domestic MDV sales grew by 40.3 per cent (33,581 last fiscal). Out of this, the goods segment constituted 33,443 vehicles (up by 40.3 per cent over 23,838 vehicles last fiscal) and the passenger segment 11,047 vehicles (up 13.38 per cent compared to 9,743 last fiscal).

At 3,782 vehicles, exports were up 48.3 per cent (2,550 vehicles).Sales during March 2004 were 17 per cent higher, at 6,194 vehicles (5,293 vehicles in March 2003). Exports were up 77.2 per cent, to 606 vehicles (343 vehicles during March 2003).

Total production for the year was 49,148 compared to 33,646 last fiscal.
