Amritha TV to be launched

Kochi: Amrita, a new satellite television channel, will be launched this week in connection with the 50^th birthday celebrations of spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi.

Indian Information and Broadcasting Minister Ravishankar Prasad will launch the channel on 24 September during the inaugural ceremony of the Amritavarsham - 50 at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium here. Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani will be present on the occasion.

The new television channel will provide programmes with a strong emphasis on 'values and culture'. In addition to news, there will be programmes on Indian culture, arts, literature, classical music and dance, according to the Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt sources.
