Amritha TV to be launched

Kochi: Amrita, a new satellite television channel, will be launched this week in connection with the 50th birthday celebrations of spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi.

Indian Information and Broadcasting Minister Ravishankar Prasad will launch the channel on 24 September during the inaugural ceremony of the Amritavarsham - 50 at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium here. Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani will be present on the occasion.

The new television channel will provide programmes with a strong emphasis on 'values and culture'. In addition to news, there will be programmes on Indian culture, arts, literature, classical music and dance, according to the Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt sources.
