Ambuja Cement Rajasthan Ltd turns the corner

New Delhi: Ambuja Cement Rajasthan Limited, (ACRL) has performed well during the quarter ended 31st December, 2003. The company made a net profit of Rs 0.21 crore as against a loss of Rs 1.08 crore in the previous corresponding period.

The company sold 4.01 lac tonnes of cement and clinker as against 3.96 lac tonnes of cement in the same period the previous year. The turnover in the second quarter was up by 2 percent at Rs 65.08 crore as against Rs 63.77 crore in the same quarter the previous year.

Operating profit was up by 9 percent at Rs 16.58 crore as against Rs 15.22 crore last year same quarter. The OP margin was up at 25.4 percent as against a 23.8 percent despite a drop in the realisation of approximately 4 percent on account of improved efficiencies. Interest cost was lower by 4 percent to Rs 9.55 crore as against Rs 9.96 crore in the previous year. After charging depreciation of Rs 6.82 crore (Rs 6.34 crore in the previous year) the company made a profit of Rs 0.21 crore as against a loss of Rs 1.08 crore in previous year.
