Apple to unveil iPhone 6s today

Apple fans waiting to see what the iPhone maker unveils today. According to rumours, the iPhone launch event would have much more on offer than the usual iPhone unveiling.

Apple loyalists are eagerly waiting for the next signature iPhone, which is not the 7th variant but rather, a more advanced or miniature version of the iPhone 6, codenamed iPhone 6s.

A number of rumours have been swirling about the iPhone 6s like Apple might opt to take a contrarian approach and buck the trend for large screen displays. It might offer the new smartphone in a mere 4.7 inches. The device is however said to offer a 1125 x 2000 resolution with a pixel density of 488ppi.

As regards design Apple is not innovating and is said to offer the same exterior. Commentators hope the company would not come out with an extra-slim body for the device and would make it sturdy enough for one-hand use.

Apple might also offer the device in a new colour variant, rose pink in addition to gold, silver and space grey variant.

Meanwhile, a marketing firm called 6S is worried that with the launch of the iPhone 6s, its own brand name would come under threat.

The firm has even put up billboards in New York calling on Apple to junk iPhone 6S, and go with the iPhone 7 branding, instead.

In a blog post, Chris Breikss from 6S Marketing wrote,''See, our company name is 6S Marketing, but our clients, friends, and colleagues simply refer to us as good ol' ''6S.'' It's a small name but a big part of our identity - one we've been using since 2000, when we started this company in my tiny apartment. At that time, we didn't think that one of the biggest, and most well-respected, companies would use it to name a mobile device.''

He adds that for them 6S was like a fun take on success.

The post ends, ''Hopefully, this message will reach you in time and you'll reconsider leaving ''6S'' to the originals - we've been rocking it since the millennium, after all.''
