The MacBook Pro is also the first computer on the market to include ''Thunderbolt'' I/O technology, developed by Intel in collaboration with Apple. The MacBook Pro supports up to 10Gbps speed, and according to Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, the technology is ''revolutionary''. The new Facetime HD camera has a resolution thrice that the previous one, and delivers a further push to Apple's aim to popularise video-calling.

Among the new features are ''Mission Control'', that allows users to view all currently running apps, a new home for Mac Apps called Launchpad and new multitouch gestures. The final version of Lion is expected to start shipping to customers this summer. An announcement for a new iPad is also expected on 2March.
