As expected Skype is launching video calling to its Skype for iPhone app starting 2011.

With Skype 3.0, users can now place video calls from Skype on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and 4th-generation iPod touch, and receive video calls on the iPad and 3rd-generation iPod touch.

According to Skype, video calling works over both Wi-Fi and 3G.

On iOS devices featuring two-cameras, users can stream video from either, however iPhone 3GS users would be able to stream video only from the device's sole rear-facing camera.

The Skype app can also be used to place calls to other users who have the app installed or to people using Skype on the computers.

The app will continue to offer features like instant messaging, text messaging, audio-only chats and the ability to make calls to landlines and mobile phones at low rates.
