Amazon is mulling providing home internet service in Europe, The Information reported.

The company would, however, probably not do so in the US as US law did not guarantee wholesale access to existing networks.

No public comment had been made by Amazon on the topic but the technology news site quoted "a person briefed on the discussion" as saying that Amazon was considering whether to offer internet service over the networks of existing providers.

Since Amazon reportedly did not want to build its own network, it would need to purchase wholesale access, which was not available everywhere.
