The Supreme Court today issued notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the bail plea of three top executives of Reliance ADAG, arrested in connection with the 2G telecom spectrum scam.

The bench of justices Ganga Sakshi Singhvi and H L Dattu agreeing to hear the pleas of group managing director Gautam Doshi, president Surendra Pipara, and senior vice-president Hari Nair, which were rejected by the Delhi high court in May, and issued notice to the CBI, asking for a response within two weeks.

The three senior executives were arrested by the CBI on charges of conspiracy to facilitate Reliance Infocom getting 2G licences in 13 circles.

The three have been in Delhi's Tihar Jail since 20 April. The CBI in its first chargesheet filed on 2 April, had cited Reliance Telecom Ltd and the three officials for their "complicity" in the 2G spectrum scam.

Doshi, Pipara and Nair, along with the company, have been charged with criminal conspiracy to cheat the government by getting licences in an illegal manner.

The agency had alleged that RTL used Swan Telecom, a firm ineligible for getting the licence, as its front company to get it.
