Infosys signs pact with IBM to tap IBM’s cloud platform

IBM will partner with Infosys, under agreement which will allow Infosys to tap IBM's Cloud platform Bluemix to rapidly prototype, develop and deploy the next generation of cloud apps for its global client base.
The announcement was made on Friday, after market hours. The agreement would include the launch of Bluemix-powered Innovation Lab for co-creation of apps with clients; training of Infosys developers on Bluemix and cloud app development skills.
Furthermore it would also allow Infosys' adoption of Bluemix dedicated to leverage its library of cognitive computing and analytics solutions and other services to build client apps.
The Bluemix powered Infosys Innovation Lab will co-create apps with a broad range of global clients. "Staffed with a dedicated team of designers, agile specialists, and industry and technology architects, the Lab is designed to rapidly deliver app prototypes," the company said.
Srikantan Moorthy, head of application development and maintenance, Infosys, said, ''Digital transformation is unleashing the power of smarter processes for our clients. Our goal is to bring these advanced technologies to clients' application landscape in the most rapid and collaborative way possible. Infosys will also incorporate Bluemix-related curriculum into its on-boarding and training process.''

IBM said it launched Bluemix with a $1-billion investment in 2014, which quickly emerged the have the largest Cloud Foundry deployments in the world, providing a developer-friendly catalogue of over 120 tools and software-services, combining the most prominent open-source, IBM and third-party technologies.
HCL Technologies is partnering with IBM to jointly develop Internet of Things (IoT) solutions.
The companies will set up an incubation centre at Noida to develop solutions that will initially cater to the industrial and manufacturing and smart facilities verticals.(See: HCL, IBM tie up for Internet of Things solutions).
