Infosys Q2 net rises 13 per cent, but rupee clouds outlook

Infosys Technologies, the country's second-largest software service exporter, today reported a net profit of Rs1,737 crore for fiscal second quarter (July-September 2010-11) against Rs1,540 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.

This represents a 13.2 per cent year-on-year and 16.7 per cent sequential rise in its net profit. Earnings per share stood at Rs30.41 for the quarter, a 13 per cent growth year-on-year.

However, the company expects its earning per share to fall to the range of 6.4 per cent to 8.2 per cent for the whole financial year.

For the quarter ended 30 September 2010, Infosys said its revenues grew 24.4 per cent year-on-year and 12.1 per cent sequentially to Rs6,947 crore.

Infosys and its subsidiaries have added around 27 clients during the quarter.

The company also made gross addition of 14,264 employees (net addition of 7,646) during the quarter. As of 30 September 2010, the company and its subsidiaries had 1,22,468 employees.
