IT major Infosys will soon put up its second project in Orissa, at an investment of Rs300 crore, according to a senior company official.
Infosys human resource director T V Mohandas Pai said about the company's plans after a meeting with chief minister Naveen Patnaik in Bhuvaneshwar, on Tuesday evening.
Pai said that around 3,000 IT professionals were currently working at the first Infosys project in the state and the second project would employ about 5,000.
The second project would be located at IT valley, on the National Highway No-5 en route to Khurda town from the state capital.
Pai said that work on the second project was scheduled to start soon.
On its part, the Orissa government has agreed to supply water and power to the second project.
Pai said that Infosys was currently exporting software products estimated Rs850 crore from its existing project in the state.
Pai and Patnaik also discussed the mid-day meal (MDM) project of Akshaya Patra, currently being provided to 61,000 students in Puri and Nayagarh districts.
