Railways carry 435.66 million tonnes of freight during Aapril-October 2007

Indian Railways have carried 435.66 million tonnes of revenue earning freight traffic during the first seven months (i.e. April - October 2007) of the current financial year 2007-08.

This freight marks an increase of 32.33 million tonnes over the freight traffic of 403.33 million tonnes actually carried during the corresponding period last year, reflecting an increase of 8.02 per cent.

During October 2007, the revenue earning freight traffic carried by Indian Railways was 66.00 million tonnes, an increase of 7.24 million tonnes over the freight traffic of 58.76 million tonnes actually carried by the Indian Railways during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 12.32 per cent.
