Microsoft to help make Hyderabad India’s first wi-fi city

The government of the newly-formed state of Telangana has reached an understanding with US-based Microsoft for working together to make Hyderabad India's first wi-fi enabled city.

The partnership aims to develop 'incubation centres' for making engineering graduates industry-ready.

A delegation from Microsoft led by its India chairman Bhaskar Pramanik held talks with state's minister for information technology K T Rama Rao and information technology Secretary Harpreet Singh. The Microsoft team invited the state government officials for follow-up discussions at its Hyderabad Centre on 6 August.

The Microsoft team also met Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and explained to him the company's plans for expansion in Hyderabad.

The Chief Minister was understood to have said that his government was keen on making Hyderabad the best IT industry-friendly city in the country and to come up with the best IT policy soon.
