ICICI Infotech bags national tax information network order across India

The project is to be completed in two phases, with pilot implementations in Phase 1 to be completed in seven months. Phase 2 of the project would involve implementation of the project across all states and union territories. As part of the project, ICICI Infotech and its consortium partners will provide solutions in the areas of software development, data warehousing, data migration, country-wide networking, data centre, disaster recovery services, application support, facilities management, IT infrastructure services, call centre and helpdesk services and training.
Commenting on the technology implementation, Ramesh Chandra, member-secretary, empowered committee of state finance ministers said, "This technology backbone is key to the government''s vision of improving tax administration in the country and it was imperative for us to have a partner with strong capabilities and the ability to support the government in implementing this vision. Further, with the country set to move into a value added tax (VAT) regime from next year, technology will form a critical element in effective administration. The empowered committee of state finance ministers chose ICICI Infotech as a technology partner based on the strong credentials that they have built in the government sector in India and their approach to this project as demonstrated during the bid process."
Commenting on being awarded the contract, Manoj Kunkalienkar, executive director and president, ICICI Infotech said, "We are delighted to have been chosen for the first such national-level information technology outsourcing initiative spanning the entire country on a public-private partnership model to have been awarded in the government sector.
