HP to lower home PC prices

In order to increase its market share in the ever growing home PC market, Hewlett-Packard India has reduced the prices of its Pentium III range home PC models by 30 per cent. This will bring down the prices of the Pavilion 4403 to Rs. 45,999 and the Pavilion PIII to Rs 89,999. The vice-president, computer products, HP India, Mr. Ravi Aggarwal, says that HP will continue to price its PCs aggressively.
HP has been aggressively pushing its Pavilion home PC through 50 retail outlets in the country since its introduction in India in January 1999. It is packaging the sale with a free internet account thruogh Satyam Internet. Other features include an in-built 56k fax modem, a 15-inch monitor, a multimedia keyboard, Microsoft Windows 98 and some other educational and entertainment software.
The idea behind this new strategic move is to bring out innovative and high-featured products for HP''s customers and enable them to have a better value for their purchase. For this HP has also tied up with Countrywide Consumer Finance to offer attractive financing options to its buyers
