Honda has scheduled the launch of the 2016 Accord Hybrid sedan in India for 25 October 2016. Bookings of the car have already commenced at all Honda dealerships across the country. The Accord will be the only hybrid model in Honda's India portfolio.

The Accord was on sale in India earlier, but was discontinued due to dropping sales. The Japanese automaker has now decided to bring in the ninth-generation model of the car into the country. The car was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida.

The Accord Hybrid will house a 2.0-litre, i-VTEC petrol engine, working in tandem with two electric motors that are supplied juice from a 1.3 kW lithium-ion battery. Cumulatively, this powertrain is capable of churning out 196 BHP and over 300 Nm of torque. A petrol variant of the Accord will also be introduced in the Indian market, powered by a 2.4-litre engine that is good for 185 BHP.

The Accord Hybrid will compete against the Toyota Camry Hybrid, while the petrol model will go against the Skoda Superb and the upcoming Volkswagen Passat.
