Japanese automobile giant Honda is betting on its upcoming luxury hatchback Honda Jazz, which the company claims to be the second-most fuel efficient car in India with a mileage of 27.3 kmpl, to extend its double digit sales growth in India.

Honda claims an impressive average of 27.3 kmpl for the diesel variant, which is marginally lower than Maruti Suzuki's Celerio diese's claims to deliver 27.62 kmpl, currently, the most fuel efficient diesel car in the country.

Honda Cars India had posted a growth of 40.73 per cent in domestic sales in 2014-15, at 1,89,062 units against 1,34,339 units in the previous fiscal.

''We are eyeing double digit sales growth this fiscal. We are very confident of Jazz doing well here,'' said Honda Cars India Ltd senior vice president Jnaneswar Sen.

The all new Jazz will compete with market leaders Maruti Swift and Hyundai i20.

The Jazz with its 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol will come with a 15.7cm touchscreen infotainment, much like the Honda City and pre-installed GPS navigation. The music system will offer Bluetooth audio streaming, and will offer DVD/CD playback.

The diesel Jazz is expected to be fitted with 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that can pump 100PS of power and 200Nm torque.

Scheduled to launch on 8 July 2015, the Honda Jazz will become India's second most fuel efficient car.
