Gehlot inaugurates new Honda Motorcycle plant

Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot yesterday inaugurated the new plant of Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India Pvt Ltd at Tapukara Industrial Area in Alwar district. Speaking on the occasion, he said industrial development in the state has gained momentum with increasing investments.
He said a special package would be made available to industrialists in the new investment policy. Appealing to HMSI to set up a car plant in the state, he assured the company all help at every stage.
Speaking about the availability of power for prospective industries, he claimed that the desert state was heading towards self-sufficiency in the energy sector. He added that several big business groups had indicated willing to invest in Solar Energy Hub in the state, given the immense potential there for solar energy projects.
He said Rajasthan would need more employment till 2020 and the state government was preparing to provide employment to youth in government and private sectors in the coming years.
Chairman of Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India Pvt Ltd Keita Muramatsu said Honda would produce vehicles with high quality and technique in the plant and that it would give new dimension to Tapukara industrial area while also providing employment to local people.
Initial capacity of the plant, built at a cost of Rs460 crore, would be 6-lakh units annually. With the completion of the second phase by March next year, with an additional investment of Rs400 crore, the plant's total installed capacity would rise to 12-lakh units.
