Ashok Leyland to launch Leyparts centres

New Delhi: Hinduja Group flagship Ashok Leyland will launch original spare parts centres, to be called Leyparts Centres, at the premises of large private transport operators throughout the country. This was announcd by R Seshasayee, managing director, Ashok Leyland, while inaugurating the first Leyparts centre at Hubli- based Vijayanand Roadways Limited (VRL), among India's largest fleet operators with a fleet of 1,825 vehicles, of which 1,132 are from Ashok Leyland and one of Ashok Leyland's largest Indian customers.
Leyparts is the brand name of Ashok Leyland's original spares and is an over Rs 200 crore business. So far, Ashok Leyland has been making Leyparts availabile through its service network and other outlets.
According to Seshasayee, "This is a first of its kind parts support in the private sector and is part of Ashok Leyland's customer-centric initiatives that holistically improve the efficiency of the customer's operations and ultimately, his profitability." Connected to the Leyparts hub, the IT-enabled real time visibility gives insight into parts consumption and future stocking requirement, thus reducing inventories for the customer, even while ensuring vehicle uptime.
"Ashok Leyland will also help with managerial and technical inputs for a driver training institute to be set up by VRL in Hubli." said Seshasayee.
Ashok Leyland is currently focusing on the sales of its latest 45-seater 12m inter-city luxury buses. The 12m bus is targeted at the intercity transport segment and provides the haighest seating capacity among luxury buses in India. VRL recently placed an order for 400 Ashok Leyland vehicles including 200 ecomet vehicles, 150 truck chassis and fifty 12m bus chassis.
