Adani Green commissions 390 MW, Rs2.69/kWh wind-solar hybrid project

The project, part of the 1.2 GW wind-solar hybrid tender issued by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) in February 2019, had a ceiling tariff of Rs2.70 (~$0.038/kWh). The tender had been undersubscribed by 300 MW due to the aggressive tariff cap. As a result, only 80 per cent of the capacity (720 MW) could be awarded. In the auction held in May 2019, Adani won the bid to develop 600 MW at a tariff of Rs2.69 (~$0.034)/kWh.

The project will cater to the rising power demand of Rajasthan while harnessing the full potential of renewable energy.

With the commissioning of the hybrid power project, Adani Green’s total operational renewables capacity has reached 5.8 GW. It has a total renewable portfolio of 20.4 GW, placing Adani Group on track to meet its target of 45 GW capacity by 2030.

Adani Green’s installed capacity in 2021 included a 150 MW solar project in Kutch, Gujarat. Adani had also acquired the renewable projects of Essel Green Energy, Sterling & Wilson, SkyPower Global, and Hindustan Power, to enhance its portfolio.

Adani recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Andhra Pradesh to develop green energy projects and pumped hydro storage projects of 10 GW capacity in the state, with an investment of Rs60 crore (~$7.73 billion). These projects, once deployed, would enable AGEL to provide power round the clock in Andhra Pradesh.
