Qatar Airways has expanded its east African operations with 12 additional flights across the two capital cities, Nairobi and Dar Es Salaam.

The daily Doha–Nairobi flights will increase to 12-flights-a-week, an addition of two flights daily from 3 January. Qatar Airways had commenced operations to the Kenyan capital in 2005.

The Tanzanian capital, Dar Es Salaam, currently served daily, will receive an additional four flights a week from 2 January, the airline said in a statement. An additional flight from 14 February will take frequency up to 12 weekly services.

Both routes are operated with an A320 aircraft, featuring 12 seats in business class and 132 in economy, the airline said.

The African subcontinent is one of Qatar Airways' largest markets by the number of destinations served, and the region alone makes up over 10 per cent of the airline's international network.

Doha-based, Qatar Airways currently flies to 14 cities across Africa, including Alexandria, Algiers, Cairo, Luxor, Casablanca, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Khartoum, Lagos, Nairobi, Dar Es Salaam, Seychelles, Tripoli and Tunis.
