The D S Jindal Group, led by Sahil Jindal, has entered the cab-hailing personal mobility sector in India with ‘Trevel,’ a fleet-based, chauffeur-driven cab service that would cater to urban mobility and airport pick-up and drop services.
Based out of Gurugram, Trevel launched its cab-hailing service last month, with a fleet of MG Windsor electric vehicles.
Sahil Jindal, managing director of Jindal Group, who launched the operations, said Trevel is intended to give a different experience other than currently offered by cab-hailing service providers like Ola, Uber or Rapido.
Trevel currently provides scheduled city rides and airport transfers – all pre-booked through its website. Rides are pre-booked with fixed pick-up schedules and prices. The company plans to add mobile applications for both Android and iOS based phones. Trevel will also expand and diversify the current fleet in order to cater to various user segments.
Trevel, which is currently operating on a first-booked-first-served basis and with a limited fleet, plans to expand to cities across the country using the fleet-led modal, which may include directly owned vehicles and those owned by partners.
Trevel also promises to overcome problems like cancellation of trips and bargaining by drivers faced by customers under current set-up as also address the causes that led to the failure of the premium electric cab segment and suspension of services by BluSmart.
Unlike BluSmart, which focused on the premium segment, Trevel is looking to compete with the likes of Uber and Ola across multiple cities, but with an owned-fleet and hired drivers.
Trevel will have the added advantage of access to electric vehicles from its own stable, MG Motors, which will also open a market for these vehicles. The company expects EVs to stabilise operations with models offering Rs3.50 per KM.
This also comes at a time when MG Motor registered a 4.4 per cent drop in sales to 5,754 units in November 2025. Month-on-month sales dropped to 10.05 per cent.
The Sahil Jindal-led DS Jindal Group, is a diversified conglomerate founded by his grandfather, Debi Sahai Jindal. The group has operations across steel and piping industry and is the largest manufacturer of ERW pipes. Besides it manufactures multi-layer composite (MLC) pipes, PVC pipes, CPVC pipes, GFRP rebars and has lately entered the cement and hardware business.
