GMR Group wins ORBIS award for corporate social responsibility

GMR Group has received the ORBIS award for Corporate Social Responsibility at the OAG Routes Airport Marketing Awards of the 14th World Route Development Forum that took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia recently.

The ORBIS Award for Corporate Social Responsibility is given to players in the aviation sector who have done substantial work in the community on a sustainable basis.

The other finalists shortlisted for the award were the UK airports operator BAA, Ethiopian Airlines and First Choice Holidays.

The award was accepted by BS Shantharaju, CEO, Delhi International Airports Ltd and A Viswanath, chief commercial officer, GMR Hyderabad International Airport on behalf of the GMR Group.

On receiving the award GM Rao, group chairman, GMR Group said: ''While the recognition is a note of gratitude from the society at large, GMR Group will remember that recognition is only an incident result and the objective of our work and commitment will always be to contribute in making a difference to the deserving sections of the society with humility, compassion and empathy''.

Mrs. Meena Raghunathan, director, Community Services, GMRVF added: ''This award is extremely satisfying for us at GMRVF as it validates the commitment of the Group towards inclusive growth and enhancing the quality of life of the under-served sections of the community.''
