Saudi Arabia launches first phase of renovation of Jeddah airport

Saudi Arabia''s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has announced the launch of the first phase of the new King Abdul Aziz International Airport (KAIA) Development Project in Jeddah.

According to GACA officials, the new project has been developed from the Airport Master Plan, which will be implemented over the next 28 years. The project is designed to increase the airport''s capacity from 13 million passengers to 30 million passengers. It is also designed to provide the facilities required for the service of pilgrims.

The Master Plan will present various opportunities for the private sector to participate, across all areas of consultancy, construction, operation and management.

The Master Plan was initiated by in 2005 and was fully developed over a two-year period. The three phases are intended to be complete by 2035-end.
