Air India said it had set a world record by flying around the world with an all-female crew.
Press Trust of India yesterday reported that the flight flew over the Pacific Ocean from New Delhi to San Francisco last Monday, and returned to New Delhi over the Atlantic on Friday.
The flight had and all-female cockpit and cabin crew and the other staff including the check-in, ground staff and the air traffic controllers were all women.
PTI added that Air India had applied to the Guinness World Records for recognition of the feat.
Last year, Air India operated the world's longest flight staffed entirely by women.
The flight was part of celebrations for International Women's Day, which falls on Wednesday.
With the latest feat Air India had excelled its own effort from last year when it operated the world's longest flight staffed entirely by women.
Meanwhile, Air India announced Thursday that it planned to launch direct flights between Tel Aviv and New Delhi. The carrier said it planned to offer three weekly flights on the route, which would become operational in May.
The route would serve the increasing number of Indian tourists visiting Israel and Israelis traveling to India thanks to the strong ties between the two countries.
Direct flights Tel Aviv and New Delhi flights are currently only available on Israel's flagship airline, El Al.
According to the Israel Airports Authority data, travel between Israel and India had grown significantly in recent years, with 158,000 passengers flying directly between the two countries last year.
''We're continuing to develop airports in Israel and pushing down prices, so that the consumer revolution reaches every household, and the Israeli public will be the main beneficiary. More airlines and airplanes flying to and from Israel enhance competition for the Israeli consumer and lower ticket prices substantially,'' Israeli transportation minister Yisrael Katz was quoted as saying in the financial news outlet Globes.
