Jet Air signs code share pact with South African Airways

Indian private carrier Jet Airways has signed a code sharing agreement with South African Airways (SAA) under which Jet Air will have a code share on SAA flights between Mumbai and Johannesburg as also Cape Town and Durban, while in turn SAA will have a code share on Jet Airways' operations between Mumbai and Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram.

The code share opens for sale from 18 April and is applicable for travel from Thursday onwards, Jet Air said in an announcement from Mumbai on Tuesday.

A recent study conducted by the department of tourism indicated that the number of tourists from India to South Africa has steadily increased in recent years.

Between January and September 2011, the numbers grew by 29 per cent. About 79,000 Indian tourists visited the country between January and September last year.
