Ten associations and unions of Air India (AI) and the erstwhile Indian Airlines (IA) have sought an appointment with civil aviation minister Vayalar Ravi, asking him to meet them within a week to sort out long pending issues.

The unions have threatened a nationwide protest, including strike, if issues pertaining to non-payment of salary and a turnaround plan for Air India are not resolved.

Apparently, this will be for the first time that all 33,000 employees of merged airlines Air India and Indian Airlines will come together for joint action.
