Air France-KLM, the French-Dutch air carrier, may be interested in acquiring LOT, the troubled Polish airline, according to a report in the daily Dziennik on Wednesday. The report did not cite any sources.

A treasury spokesman confirmed to Reuters that three bidders had expressed interest in buying the loss-making airline. The spokesman, however declined to say whether the interested parties were financial investors or strategic ones.

According to the report, apart from Air France-KLM two financial investors had evinced interest in the airline. Earlier, the German carrier Lufthansa, LOT's Star Alliance partner, was seen as a prospective buyer but the airline never put forward an offer, according to the daily.
