Thiruvananthapuram: Private Indian carrier Jet Airways will launch daily services on the Kochi-Sharjah route from 1 September, the airline said Tuesday. The service will make it Jet's fourth daily flight to the Gulf from this city in the southern Indian state of Kerala.

Currently, Jet is operating daily services to Doha, Kuwait and Muscat from Kochi, the airline said in a statement.

Earlier Jet had announced that it would launch daily flights on the Hyderabad-Dubai sector from 16 August.

Jet currently flies to seven destinations in the Gulf from several Indian cities. These include Kuwait, Bahrain, Muscat, Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Jeddah.

The airline will launch its second service to Saudi Arabia – to the kingdom's capital Riyadh - on 6 August.
